A long walk for RIGHTS — Rights March

So it will begin at the end of this month…

28 members of the Alliance for Freedom of Expression in Cambodia (AFEC) is preparing a second largest march, RIGHTS MARCH, for Freedom of Expression, Political Tolerance and Non-violence society in Cambodia. Anout 600 persons from NGOs and people around the nation are expected to walk for 15 days for 314km, which will depart from Wat Phnom, Phnom Penh on February 28, 2007 toward Angkor Wat, Siem Reap by March 15, 2007.

  • The distance from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap: 314Km
  • March will divided into 3 groups
  • Each group will march: 100 Km for 5day, and 20km/day
  • 1st group will end at: Tangkaor in Kampong Thom Province
  • 2nd group will end at: Stoong in Kompong Thom
  • 3rd group will end at: Angkor Wat
  • Participants will stay overnight at pagoda
  • During the March, different member organizations take the lead role for one day by organizing an event on which the present their perspective on the need and support for FoE in Cambodia.
  • Each of these events will be announced by press release and aired by CCHR’s radio program “Voice of Democracy” (VOD).
